Daily Summary

This itinerary exposes the you to a variety of the best that Argentina has to offer. The contrasts between regions and the sheer natural beauty throughout are sure to impress the most intrepid traveler.

Day 1:
Arrive Buenos Aires; Afternoon Neighborhoods Tour

Upon arrival your private driver and guide will meet you for transfer to your hotel. After unpacking and enjoying lunch your guide will meet you to explore some of the traditional neighborhoods of the city including Palermo Soho, Recoleta, La Boca and San Telmo. Be sure to visit the Recoleta Cemetery, a remarkable city square filled with the family tombs of generations, wealthy, famous and fading. At Plaza de Mayo Square learn about the country´s recent history and Evita’s favorite balcony, before walking the few blocks to the  San Telmo art district with its charming cobbled alleys and Colonial architecture. Sample  some delicious local flavors before  a stop in funky la Boca and Puerto Madero, the city's waterfront neighborhood before returning to the hotel. Your guide can assist you with understanding the city's public transportation, including subways and advise on the best ways to navigate the city so that you can return to the neighborhoods of interest at your leisure

Day 2:
Exlplore B.A. on Your Own; Evening Tango Show

Today will be yours to explore the city. The hotel also offers spa and concierge services to assist you in your personal explorations.

This evening enjoy dinner and a legendary tango performance in an intimate setting at the historic Faena Hotel in Puerto Madero. The professional dancers and musicians who make up the renowned troupe draw the audience into their story of love, passion, madness and glamour. The fully inclusive dinner show includes a multi course gourmet meal with paired wines, champagne and other beverage choices as well.

Day 3:

Transfer to Salta; Drive to Cafayate; Hike in the Andes

This morning your private driver will meet you after breakfast to escort you to the domestic airport for your flight to Salta. The drive should take about 30-40 minutes. Upon arrival you will be greeted by a driver guide to escort you on the 3 hour drive to Cafayate. 
As you drive from Salta to Cafayete enjoy magestic scenery along the Quebrada de las Conchas (Las Conchas Gorge). Decide with your guide if you would like to make spontaneous stops along the way for easy hikes amid the arid,  moonlike formations of the Quebrada. Take in stunning landscapes that can be captured in photographs to commemorate your journey to this fantastic part of South America.

Day 4:

Explore Cafayate

Departing from  your lodge at the vineyards, your guide will lead you on a biking/walking tour of the town of Cafayate making stops  at some of Argentina’s most renowned artisans' homes to learn about their crafts. Then you will continue visiting the town’s main square with its colonial church, and sample some delicious, flaky empanadas to go. Following the visit to town, take  a short drive to Bodega Piattelli, where you can sip young Torrontés, a high altitude wine varietal over a   menu of exquisite local ingredients, while enjoying one of the best sights of the Calchaqui valleys.  
The afternoon is yours to relax at the  Wine Estate or  go for  an optional  walk or horseback ride.

Day 5:
Return to Salta; City Tour; Flight to Mendoza

The afternoon's guided walk thought the City´s historical district reveals true colonial treasures: among them the  San Francisco Church, built in 1625, the café terrace-lined 9 de Julio Square, and the city´s Cathedral. The tour continues to MAAM, the world class High Altitude Archaeological Museum built to bring amazing insight to the ancient customs and traditions of the Incas. After the tour return to the airport for a short flight to Mendoza.

Day 6-7:
Wine Tours and Cooking Class

The central valley of Mendoza is historically the birthplace of Argentina´s wine making tradition, which started over a century ago from both Italian and Spanish immigrants. This morning your private guide will first take you to two wineries in the region. The next two days will include visits to wineries according to your tastes and interests. Note: Our on the ground partner in Argentina lives in Mendoza and is familiar with all the best local wineries and owners. 

A hands-on cooking class be conducted late one afternoon at a winery, where a chef instructor will guide you through the preparation of delicious regional recipes such as empanadas and the winery's world-famous asado (BBQ). You will learn about the traditional ingredients of the region, combining them to achieve truly Argentinian flavors. The class also includes a visit to the Chef's garden and the symbolic Argentinian ritual of Mate (traditional infusion).

Day 8-10:

Fly to Bariloche; Enjoy Fly Fishing, Hiking and Kayaking

Bariloche located in the Lakes region and the northern tip of Patagonia is an adventurer's paradise.
Activities include:
-A 2 hour kayaking adventure on Gutierrez Lake, a protected lake at the foothills of the Cathedral mountain range, followed by a picnic lunch on a pristine beach hiking on the trails surrounding the lake. Return to the hotel in the late afternoon. 
-A full day fly fishing on  the Limay River (including English Speaking fishing guide, Transportation, Fishing Boat, Lunch with wine, Snacks & Beverages, all the Fly Fishing Gear needed and fishing license).

Day 9:
Fly to Patagonia; Explore El Chalten

Enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive past Viedma Lake and the Fitz Roy Massif, stopping en route for lunch at a well-known crossroads in the middle of the Patagonian Steppes, a meeting point for some of the first wool caravans that traveled across the regions hundreds of years ago. Arrive in the village of El Chaltén, your home for the next couple of nights and base for some of the most fabulous hiking trails in Patagonia. You can take a short walk to nearby lookout points for astonishing views of the massif, followed by dinner at a local restaurant or brew pub (on you own arrangements).

Day 13:
Hike Valley Rio Electrico

Hike into the valley of Rio Electrico and enjoy great views of Marconi and Piedras Blancas Glacier. Enjoy a picnic lunch at Poincenot Camp before continuing on to Laguna Capri, enjoying incredible views of Mount Fitz Roy, Mount Saint Exupery, and Poincenot Peaks. If you're  feeling ambitious, take an optional hike up one last steep hill to Laguna de los Tres — a challenging effort, but worthwhile for its superb views of Mount Fitz Roy and its hanging glaciers.

Day 14:
Trek to Lake Torre and Cerro Base Camp

After breakfast your guide will escort you on the path along the Fitz Roy River, and later on deep into the glacier valley that leads you to the bottom of CerroTorre massif. Today, your picnic lunch spot will be at one of Patagonia´s truly spectacular scenarios, with amazing views of Cerro Torre´s legendary south face, its lake, hanging Glaciers, and   the Egger and Standhard spires. 
This afternoon  drive to the town of El Calafate and check in at the hotel.

Day 15:
Ice Trek and Catamaran- Perito Moreno Glacier

Today you'll drive along the southern arm of Lago Argentino, before setting sail by catamaran across the lake to begin your ice trek over the Perito Moreno Glacier . The first part of the hike follows the lakeshore moraines to the side of the Glacier, where you’ll strap on crampons and walk into a surreal expanse of jagged peaks and neon-blue crevasses. After enjoying a box lunch on the ice,  return by catamaran, snapping photos of the glacier’s front wall and fallen icebergs.

Day 16:
Enjoy a Day of Leisure at the Lodge

Enjoy the lodge's all inclusive activities such as horseback riding, hiking, swimming. or enjoy a massage

Day 17:
Depart for Home

Sadly this is your last day in Argentina. Your private driver will accompany you to the airport for your return to Buenos Aires and your ownward flight home. We will have a representative meet your domestic flight to assist in transfer and check in for your flight home.
